- Ilex cornuta (Horned or Chinese Holly) is the pain experienced by man. This is enclosed within the smaller cube that represents the family.
- Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) feathered trees are the strength of life.
- Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) pleached trees are pivotal points in life.
- Taxus baccata (English Yew) rounds/balls are the progress and strength of man's science.
- Buxus sempervirens (Common Box) rounds/balls link the theme of support to the Yew and back to the cubes and polished spheres.
- Phyllostachys aureculata 'Spectabilis' gives movement and height in support of the cubes and represent the golden highlights in life.
- Phyllostachys nigra gives movement and height in support of the cubes but represents the darker moments of life.
- Phyllostachys bissetti and Hibnobambusa tranquilians 'Shiroshima' are a providing a lighter and smaller movement respectively.
